This is one of two collections – this is the second, with coins dating from the Seleucid period to the modern Islamic Republic of Iran. They both feature images of coins representing the history of Iran. Curated by Mahnaz Bagheri, the purpose of these photographs is to introduce the culture and ancient civilization of Iran to students in chronological order. While the collection is not comprehensive in regard to all Iranian or Persian civilizations, it is a springboard to foster continued discussion and research into the history of Iran.
Mahnaz Bagheri is the author of The Effects of the Spiritual Thoughts on the Features of Achaemenids Era (Amirkabir publication, Tehran, Iran, first edition 2010- second edition 2012), which researched the symbols of the First Persian Empire. She holds a bachelor’s degree in the translating of the English language; a master’s degree in the language and cultures of ancient Iran; and is currently researching icons in the arts and manuscripts of ancient Iran. She has also translated several books from English to Persian.
